Healthy Living in Anaheim: Switch Coffee Beans for Juice Bars

Thursday, April 4th, 2013

With the summer coming up quickly and beaches already prepping for the season ahead, you might be considering getting healthy and ready for the beach season.

Even though you might currently be in the process of dropping those winter pounds, health is more important than looking good in your swimsuit.

If your goal is to focus on healthy living in Anaheim, one healthy thing you can do today is swap out the java for fresh juice.

In recent years, juice bars have taken hold in the area, and they have delicious offerings but haven’t completely converted the caffeine-dependent residents of our fine community.

This is the season when you should take control of your coffee cravings and swap it out for a juice. You can get the same morning kick from a perfectly blended juice drink as you get from your morning coffee.

If you are looking to kick your java habit, hit up one of the terrific juice bars in the area. Juice It Up on East Catella Avenue and Robeks in Fullerton the perfect spot for a morning pick-me-up; plus, you won’t have to wait in the Starbucks line! Jamba Juice seems to be on every corner, and Nekter Juice Bar at Anaheim Hills features green, glowing juice combos that can flush toxins and naturally cure your ailments.

Try These Yoga Poses for a Toned Tummy by Summer

yoga poses for abs

Try holding the boat pose in our yoga studio for a tighter core.

Summer is coming around, and you’re ready to look your best but your stomach isn’t quite cooperating. Here are some yoga poses for abs that will have you looking great for the warm weather.

The warrior 3 pose requires you to use your abs to keep balance. With your feet together, you spread your arms out to form a T. Then you bend forward at the hips lifting a leg straight behind you, drawing your navel towards your spine. Hold for five breaths and then repeat with the other leg.

There’s the boat pose, sitting, feet together and off the floor with shins parallel to the ground and arms stretched out in front of you at shoulder height. When you’re in this pose, rock your arms in feet in opposite directions 10 times to work on your abs.

Standing hand to big toe d is also great. Stand with both feet together and hands on your hips. Inhale and raise right leg with shoulders directly over hips and left leg. Hold for five breaths and repeat with left leg.

The Crossing even has an onsite yoga studio for you to use to get slim. Try these yoga poses for weight loss, too!

5 Ways to Save Money on Vet Expenses in Anaheim

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

When your pet has to visit the vet, it can be a rather unpleasant experience to pay the bill. Here are some easy ways that you can save money on vet expenses that will help ease the pain.

  1. Stay on top of regular check-ups. This will allow you to catch any problems before they become serious health issues.
  2. Spay or neuter your pets. Unless you’re planning on becoming a professional breeder, a litter of puppies or kittens can be a handful to pay for.
  3. Keep your pet healthy. Exercise, a healthy diet, and plenty of rest are not just good suggestions for humans.
  4. Consider pet health insurance. While the quality of vet care has increased dramatically, so too has the price of this care. If your pet is prone to health conditions, this could be a wise investment.
  5. Get your pet vaccinated. Follow the protocols for your pet’s breed, and follow your vet’s advice in this regard.

At our pet-friendly apartments in Anaheim, we know our residents love their pets and want to keep them healthy. Share your tips for keeping your pets healthy with us on Facebook.

Try the Newest Rides and Attractions at Anaheim Theme Parks

Thursday, March 7th, 2013
Anaheim theme parks

Look out for new rides this year at Knott's Berry Farm.

There are so many new rides at Anaheim’s theme parks that you will simply never want to spend another weekend sitting in your apartment at The Crossing. This weekend, put your tennis shoes on and head out and join in the fun that everyone else is having.

Of course, a trip to the famous Knott’s Berry Farm is always in order, even more so now that their new Coast Rider is open for business. Not only will you get a great view of the coast, but it will scare your socks off as you endure quick hairpin turns, twists and spins that will make even big boys cry for their mothers. This year, they’re also introducing Surfside Gliders and the Pacific Scrambler.

Maybe you have a little princess staying for a visit here in California? Then sweep her off her feet and take her to meet Cinderella, Snow White and Rapunzel over at Disneyland where the Fantasy Faire takes children behind palace walls for the adventure of a lifetime.

Transform yourself over at Universal Studios where Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime are busy fighting off the Decepticons and their plans to take over our world. Transformers: The Ride-3D is only less than a year old and is already a favorite for park-goers.

Hop on the MetroLink near our Anaheim apartments to get there this spring and summer! Already been there and done that? Then get on Facebook and give everyone your best review.

Everything is set up in isles and sections so you can head straight for a section, or simply walk through and browse the homegrown, homemade and luxury goods that are on display. It’s just $2 to get in and browse everything under the sun, including spices, sunglasses, jewelry, pottery, furniture, and more.

Walking-Distance Eats And Entertainment By The Crossing

Friday, January 18th, 2013
carl's jr. burgers

Carl's Jr. has some of the best burgers around!

Part of the charm of The Crossing is its proximity to great amenities and venues. Everything you can possibly want is within walking-distance from your contemporary apartment in Anaheim. If you are new to the area and have not had the chance to really trek around the neighborhood, we’ve collected a few haunts that residents truly love.

When you head out the door in the morning, bleary-eyed and tired, stop by It’s a Grind Coffeehouse for a quick pick-me-up. This great coffeehouse offers a variety of different grinds, teas and specialty drinks. It is the perfect place to start your day, and, personally, we think it is a great way to end your day, too. The location is open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily.

For a fun evening out with friends, take a walk down the block and check out Concourse Bowling. You can start the night off with a meal at Kingpin’s Bar and Grill (or walk to Byblos Mediterranean Grill or Carl’s Jr. in Anaheim), then follow it up with a couple of riveting bowling games on high-tech and well maintained lanes.

Now that you know about a couple of great places in the neighborhood, get out and explore. Tell us about your favorite neighborhood haunts on Facebook.
