The Convenience of Dimmable Lighting in Our Anaheim Apartments

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013
apartment in Anaheim with dimmable lighting

Use the dimmable lighting in your apartment for softer, chicer illumination.

The benefits of dimmable lighting are almost endless. From creating the perfect mood for romantic evenings to sheltering your eyes in the early morning hours, there’s virtually no limit to the uses you’ll find for the dimmer switch in your apartment at The Crossing.

Here are some tips on how you can use your dimmer to your advantage:

  • Save energy. When you dim your lights, you can save up to 98 percent of the energy you normally use, which returns about 10 percent of your energy dollars back to your wallet.
  • Adjust the mood. Whether it’s an evening at home, or you just need some special lighting for some pensive thoughts as you type out your next novel on the keyboard, a dimmer makes it as simple as a twist of the wrist.
  • Increase the longevity of your light bulbs. Bulbs can last many times longer than their original operational life when you reduce the amount of electricity flowing through them by 25 percent.
  • Reduce eye strain. Dimmable lighting allows you to adjust the brightness to the task at hand, like when you need brighter lighting for reading.

Do you have your own energy saving tips and ways that you prolong the life of your light bulbs? Then don’t keep those ideas to yourself, and visit our Facebook page where you can share them with your neighbors.

Keep Eco-Friendly and Cool at The Crossing this Summer

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Chilling out in our fantastic green apartments in Anaheim is a great way to spend the summer. Just because it is hot outside doesn’t mean that you can’t cool off at The Crossing and help the environment out at the same time.

Here are some quick and easy tips to help you keep you cool without setting fire to your energy bills.

  • Open the windows and turn on the ceiling fans instead of turning on the A/C.
  • Use shades and curtains to block sunlight during the day, then open them at night to allow cool air to circulate freely throughout your apartment.
  • Check for air leaks around windows and doors to make sure that when you do turn the A/C on, the air inside doesn’t escape your apartment.
  • Turn off the lights, appliances, and electronic devices you are not using.
  • Check your thermostat, and remember to adjust it for the times when you’ll be home and the times you’ll be away. After all, there’s no need to cool your apartment when no one will be home.

Do you have your own eco-friendly energy savings tips? Share them with us on Facebook! We’d love to hear from you.
