Keep Eco-Friendly and Cool at The Crossing this Summer

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Chilling out in our fantastic green apartments in Anaheim is a great way to spend the summer. Just because it is hot outside doesn’t mean that you can’t cool off at The Crossing and help the environment out at the same time.

Here are some quick and easy tips to help you keep you cool without setting fire to your energy bills.

  • Open the windows and turn on the ceiling fans instead of turning on the A/C.
  • Use shades and curtains to block sunlight during the day, then open them at night to allow cool air to circulate freely throughout your apartment.
  • Check for air leaks around windows and doors to make sure that when you do turn the A/C on, the air inside doesn’t escape your apartment.
  • Turn off the lights, appliances, and electronic devices you are not using.
  • Check your thermostat, and remember to adjust it for the times when you’ll be home and the times you’ll be away. After all, there’s no need to cool your apartment when no one will be home.

Do you have your own eco-friendly energy savings tips? Share them with us on Facebook! We’d love to hear from you.

Our yoga studio at The Crossing

With the New Year in full swing, plenty of people are busy trying to lose the holiday pounds they packed on.

We think that’s a fantastic goal, and at our apartments in Anaheim with fitness center, you are sure to get that weight loss done with ease.

We even have a yoga studio onsite specifically for your enjoyment. If you’ve never done yoga before, we’ve gathered a few poses that are sure to make your weight loss easier.

  • The willow is a recognizable beginner’s pose, and it is used to firm up the side of abs. The pose is easy; you simply pull one foot up and into the inner side of the thigh. Your hands remain straight at the elbow and pushed together in front of your chest.
  • The locust pose, which requires you to lie on your stomach and pull your legs and upper body up off the floor, is a great option for strengthening the lower back and leg muscles.
  • The cobra pose is a simple beginner’s pose that is used to strengthen the back, legs, and buttocks in minutes flat. It’s the perfect starter pose!

What are your favorite yoga poses to perform in our yoga studio here at The Crossing? Share with us on Facebook.

Carl's Jr. has some of the best burgers around!

Part of the charm of The Crossing is its proximity to great amenities and venues. Everything you can possibly want is within walking-distance from your contemporary apartment in Anaheim. If you are new to the area and have not had the chance to really trek around the neighborhood, we’ve collected a few haunts that residents truly love.

When you head out the door in the morning, bleary-eyed and tired, stop by It’s a Grind Coffeehouse for a quick pick-me-up. This great coffeehouse offers a variety of different grinds, teas and specialty drinks. It is the perfect place to start your day, and, personally, we think it is a great way to end your day, too. The location is open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily.

For a fun evening out with friends, take a walk down the block and check out Concourse Bowling. You can start the night off with a meal at Kingpin’s Bar and Grill (or walk to Byblos Mediterranean Grill or Carl’s Jr. in Anaheim), then follow it up with a couple of riveting bowling games on high-tech and well maintained lanes.

Now that you know about a couple of great places in the neighborhood, get out and explore. Tell us about your favorite neighborhood haunts on Facebook.

Natural Methods To Clean Up Your Face At The Crossing

natural skincare

Try natural skincare options in your Anaheim apartment.

Shopping near your apartment in Anaheim can take a toll on your body, and your skin will definitely look the worse for wear after a long day out in the sun. The next time you feel like pampering your body’s largest organ, take a look at some of these all natural skin care products and ideas.

  • Burt’s Bees is the first thing you need to add to your skincare regimen. Their all natural products won’t harm the environment, nor will they pollute your body.
  • Try mixing some olive oil and lime juice with an egg yolk and apply that to your face if you have rough or dry skin. As it dries, it acts as a natural astringent for your clogged pores.
  • Are wrinkles starting to show their ugly face? If they are, blend up a cucumber and apply it to your face, neck and eyes several times a week.
  • If you have oily skin, mix a quarter tablespoon of lime juice with a tablespoon of apple juice and let it sit for about 20 minutes before you remove it.

Best of all, these products can all be purchased at Wholesome Choice Foods which is just a short drive from our luxury Anaheim apartments.

However, if you are in the mood for something more along the lines of actual theater, visit some of the live theaters located close to your Anaheim apartments. The big mouse won’t mind. Really. He might even be a little jealous.

Another local theater is Stages Theater, situated about 5 miles away. Located at 400 East Commonwealth Avenue, Suite 4 in nearby Fullerton, this place has been going strong for 20 years.
