New Birth of Freedom at Fullerton Arboretum

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Are you a history buff? If so check out the New Birth of Freedom: Civil War to Civil Rights in California exhibit at the Fullerton Arboretum. This exhibit examines the issues of freedom and equality raised but unresolved by the Civil War era as well as the ways Californians fought for equality during the modern Civil Rights Movement as the state and the nation struggled to make good on what President Abraham Lincoln had termed a new “birth of freedom” at Gettysburg during the Civil War.

The exhibit opened on April 30 and continues to bring cultural facts to everyone who visits. It’s truly a treat to get to know and understand the history of not only California but the Unites States. The exhibition also examines the ways in which issues of freedom and equality continue to be debated today. New Birth of Freedom is culturally enriching students all around Southern California and Orange County.

Burger Week at Eater Los Angeles

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Eater in nearby Los Angeles is celebrating their first Burger Week with special burger coverage, brackets, giveaways, and best-of lists. One of the most important parts of Burger Week is determining once and for all, through a highly imperfect bracketing and voting system which burger is the best burger in all of Los Angeles.

Eater has chosen 16 burger contenders in four categories from a list of Eater Burger Committee favorites and reader submissions. The four categories are pub style burgers, fast food style burgers, upscale burgers, and wild card burgers.Eater Los Angeles will be handing out free burgers, delve into the world of the veggie burger, talk boozy burger pairings, in addition to other burger-related stunts.

Eater asked six of their favorite restaurants that currently do not have burgers on the menu to make a special Eater Burger Week creation, available this week and next.

Your iPhone Can Help You Sleep Better In Your Apartment

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

Sometimes it takes me hours to fall asleep. I lie awake at night starring at my apartment ceiling wondering if I’ll ever fall asleep. Does this ever happen to you?

I’m sure it does at least every now and then. Some people have difficulty falling asleep every night, while others can’t find slumber when they are stressed. I don’t have an iPhone, but if you do, several apps exist that may help you out.

  1. White Noise. This is a free app that makes sounds designed to help you fall asleep. Some people say this particular one doesn’t help as well as others. Different things work for different people, so you might want to try it out if you don’t want to pay.
  2. Pzizz is another app that is a sleeping aid. You can also set and alarm with it.

How long does it normally take you to fall asleep in your apartment bed here at The Crossing Anaheim? Sleeping better makes living better. You should try to sleep eight hours per night in your apartment bed.
